For Problems with Dogs, to Surrender a Dog, & other Emergencies
We understand that problems with a dog can be very upsetting, but try not to panic. There usually are more solutions than you know. If you are having problems with a dog and/or need help with a dog, contact us right away.
IMPORTANT: If it is a dog that was originally obtained with Hound Sanctuary, aka Sighthound Sanctuary & Animal Services involvement, you and your heirs are legally obligated to return the dog alive and well to us. Email Us . If no response, try again until you receive a response. You can also find us on the Sighthound Sanctuary & Animal Services Facebook page.
Even if your dog was not obtained through us, please do give us a call before euthanizing your dog, taking the dog to a shelter, or giving the dog to someone not necessarily qualified or properly screened, to see if we can help. Reputable rescue organizations are generally more comfortable alternatives than shelters for pets accustomed to living in private homes. Selling your dog is not wise either, not only because places like craigslist attract people who do not want to submit an application and be screened–which should give every animal guardian pause–but also because selling a dog you love, or whom one of your loved ones had loved, due to a serious enough problem for you to no longer keep it, might set you up for legal problems later.
You may also contact us if you just need some suggestions, even if the dog was never one of our adoptees/placements. Please Email us and we will reply as soon as we are back to the computer, almost always within 24 hours. Feel free to email more than once if you wish, or if you don’t hear back, since lack of response from us means we did not receive your message. You may also wish to check out The BiBi Project page: Happy at Home: The BiBi Project and The Harmony Project for Fearful Dogs page.
If you are inquiring about obtaining a dog from us, please include information about yourself, your location, your home, and your yard. Photos of your fencing and yard are also helpful. Thank you.
